If you've ever considered booking a boudoir session, you've probably asked yourself the same question almost every woman asks:
"But what actually happens during a boudoir session?"
Maybe you've been browsing photos, reading reviews, and imagining yourself doing it someday. But if the thought of stepping in front of a camera in lingerie makes your palms sweat, you're not alone.
The good news? You don't need modeling experience. You don't need to know how to pose. And you definitely don't need to feel confident before you walk through the door.
That's my job.
Here's exactly what you can expect from your boudoir experience from start to finish.
Before Your Session
Once you book your session, you'll receive everything you need to prepare, from a welcome email, to a prep guide, and even in-person wardrobe help.
Many women worry about what to wear. The truth is, some of the most beautiful images come from simple pieces like a fitted white tank, a button-down shirt, a bodysuit, or even a white sheet. For local clients, you are welcome to schedule a wardrobe consultation here at the studio to browse our collection of lingerie and accessories to use during your session. I’ll guide you through outfit selection, help answer any questions, and make sure you know exactly what to expect.
You don't need a suitcase full of lingerie. You just need to show up and let us handle the rest
Hair and Makeup
Your experience begins with a paper session with professional hair and makeup. We’ll have you change into a black silk robe, offer you a beverage, and let you relax while we help you feel polished, pampered, and ready for your day in front of the camera.
Most clients tell me this is the moment they start to relax. You get to sit back, enjoy a little self-care, and ease into the experience while my team takes care of the details.
The "I'm Nervous" Phase
Let's talk about it.
Almost every client walks in and says some version of:
"I'm so nervous."
"I have no idea what I'm doing."
"I'm not photogenic."
"Please tell me what to do."
And every single time, I smile because that's completely normal!
In over a decade of photographing women, I've learned that confidence is rarely something people arrive with. It's something they discover during the experience.
Your Photoshoot Begins
This is where the magic happens. And by magic, I mean guidance ;)
You will never be expected to know how to pose yourself. I demonstrate poses. I tell you exactly where to put your hands. I'll adjust your hair, your outfit, your chin, your shoulders, your toes, and everything in between. You'll never be left wondering what to do next.
Think of it less like a photoshoot and more like following directions. I guide you through every pose, expression, and movement from start to finish.
What You'll Wear
Most sessions include multiple looks.
You might choose a favorite lingerie set, a bodysuit, fishnets, or something borrowed from the client closet.
Each outfit creates a different mood and allows us to capture a variety of images that feel uniquely you.
There is no right or wrong choice.
The best outfit is the one that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful.
Throughout the Session
Something interesting starts to happen. The nervous laughter fades. You stop overthinking. You stop worrying about whether you're doing it right. And you start having fun!
Women often tell me they expected the session to feel intimidating. Instead, they leave surprised by how comfortable, empowering, and FUN the experience actually was.
Seeing Your Images
For many women, this is the most emotional part of the experience because for the first time, they get to see themselves from a completely different perspective.
Not through a critical inner voice or through the lens of everyday responsibilities.
They see themselves the way everyone else sees them…strong, beautiful, powerful, worthy.
And often, that's when the tears come. Not because of the photos themselves, but because they finally recognize the woman in them.
Ready to Experience It for Yourself?
If you've been thinking about booking a boudoir session but wondering whether you're ready, consider this your sign.
-You don't need to lose weight first.
-You don't need to learn how to pose.
-You don't need to feel confident before you book.
-You simply need to show up.
-I’ll take care of the rest.
When you're ready, I'd love to show you just how beautiful you already are!
